Women Make Art is back for 2012 with another 4Hr Nap and Caribbean
Art project (CAp) collaboration. We are now accepting artwork
submissions for this year’s exhibition, “Home & Away”. Our objective
is to interact and engage with more women artists as we create regional
and international solidarity through the project. The exhibition will
run from March 31 – April 14, 2012 at the Gallery, St. George’s,
Grenada.
Theme
Home & Away seeks to deal with all aspects of the home, of
distance, of the working woman, of immigrant life, of the woman in the
diaspora, of identity and place. What does it mean to be a female artist
in the Caribbean? What does it mean to live or grow up in another
place; to build a new life; to return to another home? We are interested
in your stories.
Dates Deadline: February 29
Artist notification: March 5
Final Artwork submission: March 25
Exhibition: March 31 – April 14
Eligibility
Women artists, amateur and professional, 18 years and
onwards. Artists must have Caribbean heritage, or live and work in the
Caribbean and or the diaspora.
Submission & Media
All 2D media is eligible on paper or canvas: painting, illustration,
drawing, photography, printmaking, collage, and digital works. Works
will be mounted on the wall, so keep that in mind if you’re adventurous
with your mixed media. Final Size: 9” x 12”
You can submit up to five (5) high resolution jpgs
(72dpi, 2mb limit) using this entry form. If you are a participant a
high resolution image (300dpi) will be required for the
catalogue. Overseas chosen participants who are required to mail in work
are advised to ensure the work is well protected. We are not
responsible for bad postal service and damaged works.
Fees
All fees are quoted in USD. Entry fee $15 only if
artwork is chosen for the exhibit. This fee covers the cost of hosting
the exhibition. Exhibition pieces should be listed for sale. Artists
receive 70% on their listed price. (Yay!) Overseas
payments will be made online via PayPal and a cash payment option will
be available for Grenada and Trinidad-based artists only.
Participants
Curation will be done by the members of 4Hr Nap and CAp. Acceptance
notice emails will be sent to all artists who are chosen for the show
with further instructions on final submissions. Overseas artists are
strongly advised to submit early.
